* Looking for something to do this summer? The Spokane Youth Volunteer Corps is launching its first summer volunteer program. Instead of hanging around bored all summer, this is a great opportunity to do something for your community, meet new people and explore future career possibilities.
This summer program is free to all youths in Spokane County between ages 11 and 18. Seven projects are planned and you can volunteer for as little as two weeks or all summer.
Youth Volunteers will conduct a Spokane riverbank cleanup, design and create a walking trail up Beacon Hill in Northeast Spokane and work with Habitat for Humanity, Spokane Food Bank, SpokAnimal CARE, Martin Luther King Jr. Family Outreach Center and the Hillyard Heritage Museum. Each project will be staffed by up to 10 youths and a college student acting as the team leader. Most projects will be done Monday through Thursday during the day.
To find out more about this cure to summer boredom, or to request an information packet and registration form, call Michelle Carr at 838-6581 or e-mail her at SpokaneYVC@hotmail.com
* Are you brimming with ideas that would be cool for the Our Generation section? Do you crave the chance to write something for the section? Are you creative and witty?

The only requirement is you must be a high school-age student as of Aug. 1. For more information call Laura Crooks at 459-5456 or e-mail ourgeneration@spokesman.com
