Dollar Keeps Rising Against Yen
The dollar Monday hit its third consecutive seven-year high against the yen as Japanese and other Asian markets weakened further on fears of recession.
The dollar fell nearly 1-3/4 pfennigs against the mark as the German currency strengthened because of the yen’s weakness.
In late New York trading, the dollar was quoted at 139.70 yen, up from 138.90 yen late Friday. The last time the dollar was near Monday’s closing level was June 24, 1991, when it reached 139.82. The dollar hit seven-year trading day highs Thursday and Friday.
