Man Arrested After Car Hits House
A Spokane man has been jailed after driving a car through the living room of an east Spokane home Monday where a resident was watching TV, police said.
The resident was uninjured and ran from the house, but the TV and several pieces of furniture were destroyed, police said.
Timothy A. Banks, 20, was booked into Spokane County Jail on charges of vehicle theft, felony harassment and other traffic related charges.
He also was wanted for hit and run, resisting arrest, possession of alcohol and drug paraphernalia, and 15 counts of failure to appear in court.
The car was driven into a home in the 5900 block of East Knox about 9:30 p.m. Police said the suspect fled the area on foot.
The car was reported stolen a few hours later. The owner said she had recently bought the car from Banks. Police searched her home, near Argonne and Sprague, and found Banks sleeping in the basement. He was holding a hammer and a knife, police said.
He fought with officers while they arrested him.
