Shadle Years Will Be Remembered Fondly

Erin Pipella Shadle Park High School

Senior year - it’s come and gone so fast. Graduation is only days away.

Shadle Park’s Class of ‘98 has been through a lot in the past two years. Last year, we lost someone very close to us. Doug McCray was not just some counselor; he was a friend. He was someone we looked up to when times were bad.

The rest of that year we were wondering who would come to take his place. Some student I know dropped out of school after Mr. McCray’s death. I guess they figured that if he wasn’t there, they didn’t need to be either.

But in the end, everything worked out. We got a new counselor by the name of Stacie Doyle and, boy, did she have some big shoes to fill. But I think she’s done a great job with the senior class.

Our class had a lot of spirit at the pep cons. Because of the huge population at Shadle, administrators decided it would be better to have split cons - one half goes to the first con and the other half goes to the second con. Not a good idea, though - what’s the point of having school spirit when the whole student body isn’t there to help cheer everyone on?

I think it’s true what they say about your senior year being the best. But there’s always senioritis.

Some people might not have shown it as much as others, but everyone gets it. Even so, we’ll have our years at Shadle Park to look back on fondly. Now I’m off to Northwest College in Powell, Wyo., to study photograpic communications. To everyone else, I wish you all the best.
