Weapon Comment Gets Boy Suspended
A Lakeside High School freshman was suspended Wednesday for asking another student if he had a weapon, school officials said.
“He says it was (a joke), but we didn’t take it like that,” Principal Larry Guenther said.
“Everybody’s kind of supersensitive.”
Stevens County sheriff’s deputies were called after a teacher overheard the comment about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The student wasn’t charged with a crime, but he was taken to see a counselor in Colville, authorities said.
The boy won’t be allowed to return to school until next fall.
