Once again, students from Shadle Park High School dominated the awards in the annual Compose Peace Essay Contest, sponsored by the Peace and Justice Action League of Spokane.

Cash awards ranging from $25 to $240 were given out to the first-, second- and third-place winners in the individual and team categories.

The first-place winners are featured here; they have been edited for space purposes. Second-place team award went to Frankie Stone and Julie Sawatzky of Shadle Park; second-place individual went to Jessica Stephens of Mt. Spokane; third-place team went to McKenzie Kiritz and Noele Weed of Shadle Park; and third-place individual went to Jane Choi of Shadle Park. Honorable mention when to Faith Thompson of Mt. Spokane.
