Itron, Uk Data Land Contract With Pg&E

Spokane’s Itron Inc., a leading provider of automatic meter reading equipment, announced Wednesday that it will share in a contract to provide Pacific Gas and Electric Co. meter data collection services.

Itron and UK Data Collection Services Ltd. have a joint venture called Star Data Services, based in Raleigh, N.C., that will handle the meter data collection and load profiling for the California utility’s residential and small commercial customers. Load profiling involves estimating power usage for customers too small to merit hourly meters.

Itron, which is traded on the Nasdaq Stock Market, serves more than 1,500 customers in 40 countries by providing meter reading equipment and services to the utility industry.
