Larson, Enemuo Key Shadow Win
Spokane reserve midfielder Keith Larson came off the bench at the 57-minute mark and scored the game-winning goal 1 minute later, lifting the Shadow past the Seattle Bigfoot 4-2 in a USISL Premier League Northwest Division game Saturday night at Shoreline Field.
Simeon Enemuo provided the rest of the Shadow’s goals, finishing with a hat trick. It was the second hat trick in the Shadow’s three-year history, the first coming on May 21 by Brian Ching.
Enemuo, a 27-year-old forward, was assisted by two teenage players on his first two goals.
After the Bigfoot’s Matt Annis struck at the 24-minute mark, Enemuo connected with U-19 developmental player Zach Kingley, a 1998 Shadle Park graduate, at 29 minutes to tie the game at 2-2.
Two minutes later, Troy Ready, a midfielder who just finished his junior year at Mead, found Enemuo from 18 yards out. Both Kingsley and Ready received the ball at midfield, turned to face the defense and chipped the ball to Enemuo.
The Shadow led at the half, 2-1, but the Bigfoot tied the game at 53:00 on a goal by Chris Farnsworth.
Larson broke the tie at 58:00 and also was credited with an assist when Enemuo tacked on his third goal at 69:00.
Larson, a Seattle resident, was added to the roster for the fourth time this season because four of the Shadow regulars were unavailable for the two-game swing through Seattle. The four players - Ching, Andy Bruno, Craig Waibel and Chad Brown - are playing at other soccer events.
The Shadow split the weekend trip and carry a 4-1 division record, 6-3 overall. The Bigfoot, 3-1 winners over Cascade Friday, also are 4-1 in the NW Division, 6-3 overall.
