The Chase Youth Commission is seeking junior and senior high school garage bands to take part in a live audition June 24 at North Central High School. You must call in advance to reserve an audition time. Bands selected from the audition will compete during the annual Battle of the Bands on Aug. 22 in Riverfront Park. The Chase Youth Commission is also seeking entries from teen artists for its Images “Fully Empowered” arts festival, which will take place during the Battle of Bands.

Teens ages 13-19 may submit drawings, paintings, sculptures, ceramics, jewelry, photography and other artwork. Entries should be dropped off at the sixth floor of Spokane City Hall the week of July 29-Aug. 5. Prizes will be awarded to winning entries.

There is a limit of one entry per person per category. Each entry must include a short explanation on how the piece of art relates to the theme “Fully Empowered.” For more information, call 625-6440.

Several student exchange organizations are looking for host families who will take in a foreign student.
