New Play Equipment Will Be Put In Parks

Four South Side parks will get new play equipment this summer.

The Spokane City Council on Monday approved plans to buy playground equipment for Historic Cannon Addition, Liberty, Whittier and Lincoln parks.

Money for the upgrades at Historic Cannon Addition and Liberty Park will come from $38,874 in community development money. Besides receiving new slides and swings, Liberty also is slated to get new tables and benches, as well as a sun shade over the wading pool.

The Parks Department plans to spend $45,948 on new equipment in three parks: Lincoln, Whittier and the North Side’s Harmon Park.

In other South Side business Monday, the council:

Made the final payment to Carroll Construction of Spokane for paving and adding curbs and sidewalks to Spokane Street from Interstate 90 to Third Avenue. The total project cost $40,940.

Made the final payment to Cameron Contracting Inc. of Spokane for building sidewalks on Perry Street between Second and Third avenues. The total contract cost $8,359.

Approved the paving of the alley between 12th and 13th avenues from Walnut to Cedar streets through a local improvement district.

Approved paving and adding sidewalks and curbs to Rebecca Street from Seventh to Hartson avenues through a local improvement district.
