Pool Opening Makes Splash With Swimmers

Quick! Find the flippers!

Valley pools will open at 1 p.m. today, thanks to work crews and warm weather.

Spokane County Parks and Recreation officials had worried that last month’s damp conditions might delay final repairs and opening dates at the Terrace View and Park Road pools.

Fortunately, drier weather arrived just in time to allow caulking of the renovated pools.

Swimmers will be treated to new pool tanks, lighting, locker rooms, floor surfaces and other improvements.

County commissioners spent more than $460,000 this year to renovate the two Valley pools, along with a North Spokane pool.

Fees and hours of operation will remain the same as last year.

Terrace View, Park Road and Valley Mission pools will have public swimming from 1 to 6 p.m. weekdays.

In addition, Valley Mission will have public swimming from 2:30 to 4:15 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Children 5 and under swim for free when accompanied by a paying adult. Admission is $1 for everyone 6 and over.

Mail-in registration for swim lessons and other programs has already started.
