Landmark Sold

The 60-story Woolworth Building, the Gothic-style “Cathedral of Commerce” in New York City that was the world’s tallest skyscraper from the time it was built in 1913 until 1929, has been sold to the Witkoff Group, an office real estate developer, for a reported $155 million. The sale is one more step by the Venator Group, formerly the Woolworth Corp., to shut down its five-and-dime operation and focus on its Foot Locker, Lady Foot Locker and Champs Sports stores.
