Cops Shops Host Benefit

Spokane Police Officer Duane Wilmschen will serve coffee next week.

With a little persuasion, maybe he’ll even offer up some donuts.

On July 1, COPS Logan and NevaWood COPS will host a crime prevention benefit at The Chef Restaurant at 1329 N. Hamilton from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Wilmschen, the Neighborhood Resource Officer for both COPS stations, promises to serve coffee to those who attend.

The benefit’s mission is three-fold, Wilmschen said.

Volunteers want to recruit new COPS shop members, educate their respective neighbors about public safety issues while supporting a neighborhood business.

The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner to crime benefit patrons.

Those attending are encouraged to make a financial contribution to their respective police substation.
