Principal Changes Announced

A few changes have been announced among Central Valley principals.

McDonald Elementary School Principal Olivia McCarthy is leaving the district for one year’s leave of absence. She is leaving to follow her husband to the West Side.

McCarthy’s husband is leaving his position as superintendent of the St. John-Endicott (Wash.) School District, for a job in Hoquiam, Wash.

The Central Valley School District will hire a new principal for McDonald.

Horizon Principal Roger Fox is taking a central office position in Central Valley. He will replace Roger Rada, who supervised the classified staff.

Rada is headed to Oregon, where he will be superintendent of the Nestucca Valley School District. His wife, Glenys Hill, a former Central Valley administrator and currently superintendent of Deer Park School District, will remain in Spokane.

Next year at Horizon, Laurie Sheffler will be principal. That is a one-year assignment, said district spokesman Skip Bonuccelli. Sheffler was in charge of professional-technical and secondary education for the district this year. She was previously assistant principal at University High School.
