Venus Williams beat top-seeded Lindsay Davenport for the first time in four tries, overcoming a slow start to win 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 6-3.

She will meet Joannette Kruger of South Africa in the final of the IGA Tennis Classic at Oklahoma City.

Sixth-seeded Tommy Haas won the first three games from Pete Sampras, but he couldn’t keep it up.

Sampras recovered from the 0-3 start to beat Haas 6-4, 6-4. He meets third-seeded Thomas Enqvist in the Advanta Championships finals today in Philadelphia.

At Linz, Austria, Jana Novotna and Dominique van Roost breezed into the finals of the $450,000 Austrian Open.

Novotna, the top-seeded Czech veteran, beat Silvia Farina of Italy 6-4, 6-1 to collect her 500th victory on the WTA tour. Van Roost, from Belgium, had it even simpler. After losing the first set 6-2 in 36 minutes, second-seeded Iva Majoli of Croatia retired, complaining of a bad back.

In London, third-seeded Yevgeny Kafelnikov and France’s Cedric Pioline reached the finals of the Guardian Cup indoor.
