Airliner Makes Emergency Landing

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Northwest Airlines flight bound for Minneapolis from Spokane made an emergency landing Tuesday after a warning light activated in the cockpit, officials said.

Flight 612, carrying 124 passengers and a crew of seven, landed without incident at Spokane International Airport about 8:15 a.m., said airport spokesman Todd Woodard.

The pilot decided to return to Spokane when a light detected an oil problem in the Boeing 727’s No. 3 engine, said Kathy Peach, a Northwest spokeswoman.

The airplane was grounded for repairs, and the passengers were transferred to other flights, Peach said.
