FROM FOR THE RECORD (Wednesday, March 11, 1998): Correction Council workshop date: The Spokane City Council will hold a workshop session March 19 on a proposed human rights ordinance. The government almanac incorrectly stated the workshop would take place Thursday.

Among other business, the board will hear about Fire District 9’s proposal to annex eight square miles of rural land south of the Spokane River.

Spokane City Council

Monday, 3:30 p.m. council briefing, lower-level conference room 6 p.m. regular meeting City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls The council will discuss a proposal to reduce the tax on for-profit businesses that sell pull-tabs. Council members also will hear from the Peace and Action Justice League about a proposal to boost the city’s minimum wage.

Spokane County Public Works Department

Tuesday, 4:30-7:30 p.m., Moran Prairie Grange Hall, 6006 S. Palouse Highway County staff will explain plans to widen 57th Avenue. The $3.7 million project is scheduled for this spring and summer.

Tuesday, 6 p.m. special meeting, council chambers City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls The hearing examiner will consider a request from American Behavioral Health Systems to operate an inpatient chemical dependency treatment center for 100 people at 44 E. Cozza.
