FROM FOR THE RECORD (Wednesday, March 11, 1998): Correction Council workshop date: The Spokane City Council will hold a workshop session March 19 on a proposed human rights ordinance. The government almanac incorrectly stated the workshop would take place Thursday.

Among other business, the board will hear about Fire District 9’s proposal to annex eight square miles of rural land south of the Spokane River.

Spokane Public Works Committee

Monday, 1:30 p.m. regular meeting, fifth-floor conference room City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls The committee plans to discuss sewer service in the Cozza area.

Spokane City Council

Monday, 3:30 p.m. council briefing, lower-level conference room 6 p.m. regular meeting City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls The council will discuss a proposal to reduce the tax on for-profit businesses that sell pull-tabs. Council members also will hear from the Peace and Action Justice League about a proposal to boost the city’s minimum wage.

Spokane Hearing Examiner

Tuesday, 9 a.m. regular meeting, second-floor conference room City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls The hearing examiner will consider a request to rezone property at 516 E. Francis to allow the construction of 13 off-street parking spaces.

Spokane County Commissioners

Tuesday, 9 a.m. briefing, courthouse, 1116 W. Broadway 2 p.m. weekly meeting for nonhearing items, 1026 W. Broadway Among other business at the 9 a.m. meeting, commissioners will hear about plans to restore Eloika Lake.

Spokane County Public Works Department

Tuesday, 4:30-7:30 p.m., Moran Prairie Grange Hall, 6006 S. Palouse Highway County staff will explain plans to widen 57th Avenue. The $3.7 million project is scheduled for this spring and summer.

Spokane Hearing Examiner

Tuesday, 6 p.m. special meeting, council chambers City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls The hearing examiner will consider a request from American Behavioral Health Systems to operate an inpatient chemical dependency treatment center for 100 people at 44 E. Cozza.

Spokane City Plan Commission

Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. regular meeting, second-floor conference room City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls The commission will discuss the authority of the Design Review Committee.

Spokane Design Review Committee

Wednesday, 3 p.m. regular meeting, lower-level conference room City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls The committee will discuss the latest design for River Park Square.

Spokane County Planning Commission

Thursday, 9 a.m., public works building Among other business, the commission will discuss flooding and other issues related to Moran Prairie.

Spokane Regional Transportation Council

Thursday, 1:30 p.m.

City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Among other business,the board will hear a report on the Transportation Improvement Board, which helps set priorities for state road projects.
