Olympic gold medal figure skater Tara Lipinski, 15, tired and suffering from an infection, said Monday she will not compete at the World Figure Skating Championships later this month. “We realized we wanted to be 100 percent and not hurting,” Lipinski said Monday night at a reception honoring her and the other five Olympic skaters who train at the Detroit Skating Club. “I think I’ve fulfilled everything I really, really needed to. On Monday morning, her doctor discovered the infection and she was taken to a dentist and had two molars extracted. The doctor put her on antibiotics and might test her for mononucleosis in a few days if she is not getting better.
