Crown Resources Loss Widened In 1997

From Staff And Wire Reports

Crown Resources Corp. Tuesday reported net losses of $4,979,000 or 38 cents per share for 1997, compared with a 1996 net loss of $1,571,000 or 12 cents per share. Revenues last year were $685,000, compared with 1996 revenues of $803,000, the company said in a release.

Noncash write-downs of $5.7 million for property abandonments were cited as the primary cause of the higher losses in 1997. Higher expenses were associated with expanded exploration and development programs and financing of Crown and Solitario Resources Corp., Crown’s 57 percent-owned subsidiary. Solitario recently announced it will sell its Argentina subsidiary and focus efforts in Peru.
