Shea Elected To Post With U.S. Chamber

From Staff And Wire Reports

David Shea, chairman of the board of Shea Construction Inc., has been elected to a two-year term on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors.

Shea said being selected for the 75-person national board was a “natural extension” of activities he’s been involved with locally and regionally.

“The real function (of the U.S. Chamber) is advocacy in the national political arena,” Shea said. “I’ve done that on a local level through Momentum and the chamber. I am doing that at the state level through the Association of Washington Business and the Association of General Contractors.”

Board members meet three times annually in Washington, D.C., to formulate policy and strategy.

Chamber President Thomas J. Donohue said in a statement that Shea’s involvement will help the chamber “advance free enterprise and advocate policies of lower taxes, less government and fewer regulations for American businesses.”

Shea was chairman of the Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce in the 1996-1997 term and has been a member of the board of trustees since 1990.
