Defense Plea Rejected

An Orange County judge has rejected a defense plea to drop charges against six of the seven North Carolina football players charged with assault.

Defense attorneys for the six argued during a 4-hour hearing Monday that the charges should be dropped because summonses drawn up by a magistrate were improper and that David Beyer didn’t see his attackers.

Beyer was attacked Dec. 5 outside a Chapel Hill bar.
