Holmes Wants Crackdown On Prostitution
A Spokane City Council member would like to get rid of prostitution in the county.
Phyllis Holmes told the health board Thursday that prostitution is a health issue. She talked about the used hypodermic needles and condoms left behind in areas with heavy prostitution, such as near Sprague and Altamont.
Holmes also said prosecuting prostitutes was not a high priority in the county.
She said she’d like to look into increasing the penalties for prostitution.
“I simply bring this to you for some thought,” Holmes told the board.
Holmes said she’d like to see more police patrols in the East Sprague area, and maybe signs and more lighting. , DataTimes
