Lp Workers Qualify For Federal Benefits

From Staff And Wire Reports

Workers at Louisiana Pacific Corp.’s Northern Regional office in Hayden Lake, Idaho, are eligible for North American Free Trade Agreement and other federal benefits, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

About 125 employees have been or will be laid off between Nov. 11, 1996, and Feb. 18, 2000.

A Labor Department investigation showed that workers in the office provide support service to the company’s lumber mills in Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming. They will lose their jobs as the result of imports.

The eligible workers may apply for benefits which include career counseling, job placement assistance and relocation allowances at a state employment service office. , DataTimes
