Police Search For Child Rape Suspect Authorities Seize Computer Equipment, Believe 32-Year-Old Man May Be Posing As Woman

Luke Timmerman Staff writer

An Otis Orchards man sought by police has been taking explicit photographs and molesting a 13-year-old girl, according to a court affidavit.

Brian K. Munson is wanted by sheriff’s deputies on two counts of first-degree child rape, second-degree child rape, sexual exploitation of a minor and child pornography.

Detectives believe the 32-year-old Munson, reportedly a cross-dresser, may be posing as a woman.

The girl’s mother filed a complaint with sheriff’s deputies after finding photos of her daughter’s face superimposed on pictures of partially nude women, according to the Superior Court affidavit.

The mother also found two stories about incest between a father and 11- and 12-year-old daughters that had been downloaded from the Internet, the court documents state.

The girl told a forensic interview specialist that Munson had been fondling her for the past five or six years. When asked if they had sex, the girl said, “I wouldn’t let him,” the affidavit states.

Sheriff’s detectives seized three computer systems and a server from Munson’s home at 21317 E. Olympic Court. They also took numerous computer disks, hard drives, pornographic material and a digital camera.

According to the affidavit, detectives also seized a piece of woman’s lingerie that Munson coerced the girl into wearing for sexually explicit photos.

Detectives believe Munson may have fled to Seattle, where he has friends. He also may be disguised as a woman, looking for employment in the computer industry.

He used a credit card to purchase women’s clothing in Spokane on Saturday, and his car was found abandoned in Harvard Park near his home, detectives said.

Munson is 5 feet 10 inches tall, 155 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

He has no prior convictions in Spokane County.
