With the cost of a college educa tion becoming an ever-increasing concern for most Americans, winning a scholarship can certainly take the sting out of that first invoice from your son’s or daughter’s school.

But where does the hunt for scholarship money begin?

Well, a good place to start might be by connecting to the information highway or hitting your local bookstore.

Finding money to pay for a college education has becoming increasingly easier, thanks to a host of scholarship information on the Internet and in published form.

Here is a list of both some useful Web sites and books that provide good information about undergraduate and graduate scholarship programs.

This searchable database contains extensive information and links to some 275,000 different national and regional scholarship programs - all for free. FastWEB also offers a national electronic application service for scholarship awards.

Provides links to selected scholarships for women, minorities and undergraduate and graduate students. Also furnishes a list of searchable databases with further information on scholarships.

Maintained by the Federal Trade Commission, this Web site doesn’t have info on specific scholarships per se, but does offer several handy pointers on how avoid falling prey to a scholarship scam.
