Letter To The Editor

Respect differences

This letter is in response to two recent letters against hunting (Valley Voice, March 19).

It is also directed to Justin Opsal and all other young hunters and their families.

Hunters, fishermen and farmers have long been intimate with the workings of nature and the struggle for life.

In our urban society a lot of people have forgotten all life survives at the expense of other life.

Kerry Masters complains about harvesting a “once-living creature.”

Has she ever mowed her lawn and killed hundreds of “living creatures?”

How much habitat was destroyed putting up her house or farming the food she eats?

She wants to see more in the Voice about baseball and other “victim-less sports.”

How many “living creatures” lost their habitat to make way for baseball fields and other facilities?

Should Kerry Masters be able to have a home, play baseball, mow her yard and eat?

I think she should.

Joel Carr talks about “the limping deer” with an arrow wound.

What about the deer wounded in the draws behind his rifle range so he can make a dollar?

Should Joel Carr have a shooting range? I think so.

As we go through life we will find many people with ideas different from our own.

We should give consideration to different viewpoints.

In life it is important to know where you stand and what you believe, to be true to yourself in all things.

Good hunting! Steve Garr Greenacres
