West Valley Edges Clarkston

Dave Hamlin’s goal near the post lifted West Valley over visiting Clark ston 1-0 as the District 7-3A playoffs opened Tuesday with a loser-out match.

Tony Wacenske set up the goal, dribbling down the right sideline. Goalkeeper Nathan Harrington of the Bantams (4-8-4) briefly stopped play by hitting his head on the post while diving for Hamlin’s shot.

No. 3 WV (7-4-3) advances to a 5 p.m. Thursday loser-out match at No. 2 East Valley (8-6-2). In their league matches, EV won 2-0 and the teams had a scoreless tie.

Great Northern League

Jake Moug’s header goal at 15 minutes allowed visiting Riverside (7-1-2) to tie Colville at 1 and kept the Indians (4-4-2) from earning the No. 3 berth to the District 7-2A playoffs.

Micah Throop, on a pass from Jeremy Chiron, scored 5 minutes into the match for Colville.

District begins Saturday at league champion Pullman with a pair of loser-out matches. No. 2 Riverside meets No. 3 Medical Lake (5-5) at noon, followed by Pullman (9-0-1) against No. 4 Colville.
