Wwp Puts Off Launch Of Mopsii Program

From Staff

Launch of a second experiment in customer choice of power resources has been delayed until July 1, the Washington Water Power Co. official heading the program said Tuesday.

The options and pricing have also been changed, she said, and rate adjustments have been capped to encourage participation.

Called MOPSII, for More Options for Power Service II, the program will allow 7,500 residents and businesses in Deer Park, Hayden and Hayden Lake to purchase wood- or wind-generated electricity, alone or in combination with WWP’s other resources.

Community meetings on the program are scheduled June 1 in Deer Park and June 2 in Hayden. Time and locations will be announced later.

Another MOPS trial is under way in Othello and Harrington.
