Bulldog Battalion Will Be Honored

From Staff Reports

Students in Gonzaga University’s Reserve Officer Training Corps will be recognized as one of the best units in the nation during a ceremony tonight at 7.

Bulldog Battalion will receive the Order of the Founders and Patriots of America Award for excellence in academics, military training and community service.

Only three units out of 271 in the nation receive the award each year. Gonzaga last won it in 1995.

The award is from the National Order of Founders and Patriots and the U.S. Army Cadet Command.

It will be presented at GU’s Martin Centre during a ceremony in which eight graduating seniors will be commissioned as second lieutenants in the Army.

Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Vernon Baker is the guest speaker.
