I am writing to enlist your support in my bid to become Idaho’s next treasurer. A native Idahoan, I believe I possess the qualifications necessary to serve in this position. I have 16 years of legislative experience, six years of banking experience, and I own and operate Canyon County’s oldest and largest independent alarm company.
As past chairman of the House Business Committee and chairman of the State Affairs Committee, I worked hard to ensure the stability of private enterprise, promote sound public policy and offer relief to Idaho’s taxpayers - as a conservative. I’ve endeavored to make sure Idaho’s money is used effectively.
I am confident I’ll be able to keep the treasurer’s office a place where both public and private sectors meet. I will work hard with the leaders of timber, mining, and agriculture industries to reach our public goals as I have in the past, while defending the private sector against public policies which may hurt Idaho’s economy.
Last summer I had the opportunity to go to New York City with our current state treasurer, Lydia Justice Edwards, to do the bond rating presentations. I was the lead presenter. As a result of our efforts, we were able to retain our AAA bond rating for the state of Idaho. This means that Idaho earned approximately $6 million dollars in interest, which goes directly to the general fund to be appropriated by the Legislature and does not come out of the taxpayer’s pocket. That is important!
I view the treasurer’s office as a position of leadership - a place where both can work together for the security of Idaho’s families. Your vote May 26th will enable us to begin building this bridge together.
