Engineering Firm To Open Local Office
DCI Engineers, a civil and structural engineering firm based in Bellevue, Wash., announced Friday it will open a Spokane office in June.
The company will open an office with six engineers in the Paulsen Center on Riverside Ave. Founded in 1988, the company has a total of 44 engineers, with offices in Bellevue, Everett, and Portland.
“Our type of firm is really dependent on growth,” said DCI co-founder Mark D’Amato. “We’re moving here because we’re anticipating growth in Spokane. We’ve seen some firms who are finding it’s too expensive to build on the west side of the mountains.”
DCI does not have a large customer base in Spokane, but did the design work for the Bon Marche store in the Valley Mall, and is working on the new Barnes and Noble near the Valley Mall.
The company specializes in concrete frame, steel frame and wood frame structures, in addition to site grading and storm drainage systems, D’Amato said.
One of the firm’s principal engineers, Tri-Cities native Mark Aden, did the market research in Spokane, and was a driving force behind the relocation, D’Amato said.
