‘Lowering Taxes For Everyone’
COVER LETTER
Kootenai County has a unique character of its own. The elective office of commissioner has an important role in maintaining and overseeing development for the future well-being of the citizens.
My family and I have been residents for 19 years. As a former business owner I have an excellent understanding of the present climate of our county. In 1993, I became a member of the county assessor’s team and advanced to senior appraiser.
My career includes an additional 17 years in county government - 22-plus years experience in local government have given me invaluable information and insight.
We are all concerned about taxation. Since commissioners have influence over only 20 percent of our property taxes, and have limited control over the budget, real tax reform must come at the state level through Legislative action which I am well-qualified to promote.
When you elect me I will work toward lowering taxes for everyone, not shifting the burden from a select few onto the rest of us.
Issues equally important are providing quality education in a safe environment, environmental safety to protect our natural resources, and to oversee a responsible growth. Paying greater attention to these issues will provide long-term benefits.
As commissioner I will approach these issues with common sense and fairness to achieve balance. The citizens of Kootenai County deserve commissioners who will work hard to control spending, support tax reform, make informed decisions, and promote responsible growth. I will use whatever influence the office allows to preserve, enhance and protect Kootenai County’s unique quality of life.
