Vote Tonight On Plans For Downtown Spokane
Spokane residents who want a say in downtown’s future can choose tonight from among several proposed blueprints for the city’s core.
The third of four community workshops aimed at drafting a downtown plan takes place at the Spokane Convention Center from 7 to 10 p.m.
Participants will be asked to vote on several alternative designs proposed for downtown. The proposals will offer options for how the city’s core should look, addressing issues such as where housing should be and whether streets should be one-way or two-way.
The project - coordinated by the city and the Downtown Spokane Partnership - involves four phases: developing a vision, identifying alternatives, selecting alternatives and preparing a draft plan.
The Downtown Spokane Partnership is a nonprofit organization that taxes its members to pay for improvements and marketing in the city’s core.
By September, a draft document will be presented to the City Council for approval.
The fourth and final public workshop takes place June 17.
