Worker Arrested On Riot Charge
A sheriff’s deputy injured when he was hit by a thrown manhole cover during a campus riot has identified his alleged aggressor.
Whitman County sheriff’s deputy Doug Stanley has identified Pullman construction worker Michael W. Krouse, 28, as the man who allegedly threw a steel meter cover at him during the May 3 riot at Washington State University. The cover fractured Stanley’s ankle.
Krouse, who is not a student, was arrested on two counts of felony assault on a police officer, one count of felony riot, malicious mischief in the third degree and failure to disperse.
Whitman County Prosecutor James Kaufman said Wednesday that Krouse likely will be charged with two counts of felony assault on a police officer and one count of felony riot.
In addition, officers arrested WSU student Jason R. Williams on Wednesday on charges of felony riot and felony assault on a police officer.
According to Kaufman, police have made 12 arrests, and nine people have been charged so far.
