Dollar Falls Against Mark, Yen
The dollar fell against the Japanese yen Thursday as investors ignored various Asian problems and sold dollars ahead of a Group of Seven meeting of government heads this weekend.
The dollar also slipped against the German mark in lackluster trading.
Trading was influenced by various Asian problems, from continued violence in Indonesia to sanctions being imposed against India for testing nuclear weapons.
Initially the dollar rose against the yen Thursday, but investors began lessening their exposure to the dollar as they considered the possibility that the Group of Seven industrialized nations might support the Japanese either verbally or through coordinated intervention.
