Kiss For Luck
The odds of winning in Wednesday night’s $175 million Powerball drawing are breathtakingly slim, experts say. The 80 million-to-1 chance of taking all that money home makes it 40 times more likely that the ticket purchasers will die falling out of bed and 320 times more likely to perish in a plane crash. Other possibilities that are far more likely than winning this week’s lottery include freezing to death, a 3 million-to-1 possibility, and being involved in car crash, a 5,000-to-1 shot, according to “The Book of Risks” by Larry Laudan, a philosophy professor at the University of Hawaii.
