Forest Service To Spray Weeds
Weed spraying is scheduled for the first week in June along several Forest Service roads, weather permitting.
The chemicals involved are 2,4-D and Tordon, the Forest Service said.
The announcement is a routine courtesy. “We are letting them know we are doing it,” said Kristen Philbrook of the Forest Service.
The Forest Service and Kootenai County Extension Service will spray for knapweed, meadow hawkweed, orange hawkweed, goatweed, thistle, rush skeletonweed and common tansy.
The areas to be sprayed include Forest Road 256 in the Carlin Creek drainage, Road 614 in the South Fork of Cedar Creek and Beauty Creek drainages and Road 438 in the West Fork drainage.
Other roads include Forest Road 539 in the Rose Creek drainage, Road 808 in the Blue LakeCottonwood drainage, Road 439 in the Carrill-Pleasant Creek drainage, the Nordic Ski Trail parking lot, Road 1575 in the Cedar Creek drainage and and roads 64C and 306A in the Cedar Creek drainage.
