Primary Election Next Tuesday

Thu., May 21, 1998

Polls are open next Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The election will determine whose names go on the ballot in the general election this fall.

Among the races to be determined are governor, lieutenant governor, state treasurer, controller and superintendent. Also on the ballot are races for U.S. congressman and senator.

A variety of local races and issues also will be decided.

People not yet registered to vote may do so at the polls. Registration requires picture identification plus one other piece of documentation that shows the individual has lived in the county at least 30 days. A utility bill is one example.

Local journalism is essential.
