Youth Attacked With Baseball Bat

A stranger with a metal baseball bat attacked a 15-year-old Valley boy Thursday night as he walked west on Broadway Avenue between McDonald and Pines roads, sheriff’s deputies said.

The victim told police that a white man in a red Chevrolet pickup truck drove past him on Broadway then stopped, jumped out and ran toward him with a bat. The man hit him in the right hip then left, deputies said. The attacker said nothing to the victim, deputies said. He was a stranger.

The teen suffered a sore hip, but no serious injuries. He described the attacker as a white man with long black hair and a black moustache. He wasn’t sure of his age, but thought he was over 18. The man was wearing a red, white and black shirt.

The victim was a North Pines Junior High School student. He told police he was walking to the school when the attack occurred at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
