Body Identified As Orient Canoeist
FROM FOR THE RECORD (Wednesday, June 3, 1998): Correction Drowning victim: The Associated Press erroneously identified the victim of a drowning in the Kettle River in a Saturday article. The victime was 40-year-old Weldon M. Lindsey of Orient.
A man whose body was found in the Kettle River was identified Friday as 36-year-old Alden Lindsey of Orient, the Ferry County Sheriff’s Department said.
Lindsey had been missing since he took a canoe on the river last week, a few days before heavy rains caused many area streams to overflow their banks, a sheriff’s dispatcher said.
The body was found in the river Thursday near a bridge about nine miles northwest of Kettle Falls.
An autopsy was planned. The cause of death was not immediately known, and the investigation was continuing.
