Pullman Reaches 2A Title Match
The Pullman Greyhounds are one win away from the State 2A soccer championship, but they had to put in some extra work to get there.
Trevor Tharp’s goal, with an assist from Owen Kendall, 3 minutes into overtime lifted Pullman to a 2-1 victory over East Valley of Yakima on Friday.
The Greyhounds take on Richfield this afternoon at 2:30 in the championship match. Ridgefield defeated Steilacoom 2-1 in the other semifinal.
Pullman appeared to have the semifinal match well in hand after George Souza’s free-kick goal in the 57th minute gave the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead that stood up until the final minute of regulation.
But East Valley was awarded a free kick with 30 seconds left and Herman Gutierrez came through with the game-tying goal.
Keeper Dave Law tallied five saves for Pullman.
East Valley will play Steilacoom for third place.
