NEW FACES:

Donald Reddington has joined the Spokane office of LeMaster and Daniels PLLC to become director of management consulting services for the firm’s 11 offices and more than 15,000 clients. Reddington, a certified public accountant, has more than 25 years of experience in business valuations, litigation services, and advisory services to medical groups and health care professionals. Before joining LeMaster & Daniels, he was CEO of a large, multispecialty medical practice in Tacoma.

Shea Construction Inc. has hired Sue Price as controller. Price, who is a certified public accountant, has eight years of experience in corporate finance, operations management, human resources and accounting. She previously was vice president of finance and operations at Spokane Diesel Inc., and oversaw operations at three locations with more than 65 employees and managed sales of up to $19 million.

Charlotte Nemec has joined Spokane Federal Credit Union as human resources director, with responsibility for staff recruitment and benefits programs. Nemec, who received a degree in economics from Eastern Washington University and has Professional Human Resources certification, was previously with Spokane Teachers Credit Union.

Spokane Federal Credit Union has named Frank DeMarco a loan officer. DeMarco has a degree in criminology from San Jose State University and previously worked for Huntwood Industries.

Gonzaga University has appointed Mary McFarland as dean of the School of Professional Studies. McFarland, a registered nurse, is currently the chair of the division of nursing at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston. She received a doctorate in educational leadership from Gonzaga in 1993. McFarland replaces Dick Wolf, who plans to return to teaching in the School of Education this fall after serving as dean since 1991.

Sheri Gordon has joined Windermere’s Spokane-North Wall Street office as a sales associate. She was previously with the Spokane Country Club for three years.

Tomlinson Black Valley has added Marilyn Keech to its staff of agents. Keech has a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan.

Steve Becker, an award-winning journalist who spent eight years as an anchor/reporter at KREM 2 News, has joined Washington Water Power as a senior corporate communications coordinator. After leaving KREM in 1995, he worked for Ambassadors International, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and as a consultant with his own media company. He will specialize in national media outreach and share responsibilities as a company spokesperson.

Spokane Mental Health has appointed Dr. David Crump director of child and family services. Crump previously directed a child and family services division in a Utah community mental health center. He has experience in inpatient, outpatient, school-based and cross-system care.

Dr. Karl Houglum has joined Rockwood Clinic in the practice of internal medicine/gastroenterology and hepatology. Houglum, a graduate of the University of Washington, completed an internship and residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and a fellowship at the University of California in San Diego. He has been accepted for membership in the Spokane County Medical Society.

Eastern Washington University has hired two new college development directors:

Jerry Uppinghouse is responsible for Eastern’s College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences. Uppinghouse has worked in development in Spokane County for 17 years, most recently with Big Brothers and Sisters.

Rick Thomas has responsibility for the EWU College of Business and Public Administration. Thomas worked in development for seven years at Washington State University, including serving as assistant director of development for WSU-West and as athletic fund-raiser for Western Washington.

Jeff Thomas has joined Klundt Hosmer Design as an account manager. Thomas was previously with Ross Printing Co., where he was a sales representative since 1992.

MOVING UP:

David Jones and Stephen Blaschke have been appointed vice presidents of the Spokane office of Sedgwick Noble Lowndes. Mark Patrick was named assistant vice president. Jones has been with the company since 1992, Blaschke since 1989 and Patrick since 1995.

STARTING UP:

Linda Hemingway has formed Hemingway Marketing Associates. The firm offers Internet Web site marketing expertise, as well as experience in market development, channel development, public relations, product promotion and communications strategy and implementation. Hemingway has more than 17 years of experience in sales and marketing, most recently as director of marketing for Output Technology Corp.

KUDOS:

Spokane Federal Credit Union employees have received the following awards:

Ken Lies, member service representative, received the Outstanding Member Service Award, which recognizes service excellence to credit union members that exceeds normal expectations.

Carol Wilson, accountant, was been named Employee of the Year for Outstanding Member Service. The recipient is chosen by peers from among quarterly Outstanding Member Service award winners.

Lyn Krauss, special services representative, was honored by the Spokane Credit Association as its Credit Person of the Year. Krauss has been a volunteer with the association for 15 years, serving on the board of directors, teaching bankruptcy recovery workshops and twice chairing the association’s state conference.

Linda Cordell, information systems specialist, received the Outstanding Co-Worker Service Award, which recognizes service excellence to co-workers above and beyond normal expectations.

Debbie Clifton, executive secretary, was named Employee of the Year for Outstanding Co-Worker Service. The recipient is chosen by peers from the quarterly Outstanding Co-Worker Service award winners.

The Coeur d’Alene Resort has received the 1998 AAA Four Diamond rating for the 12th year in a row. Beverly’s Restaurant, which is located in the resort, has been named a Four Diamond Restaurant for the ninth straight year.

Sundance Spas recently honored North Idaho Spas of Sandpoint for outstanding customer service. The company received the Exceptional Customer Service Award, which signifies the highest customer service rating out of more than 400 Sundance dealers in 46 countries worldwide. North Idaho Spas has been servicing spas in Sandpoint since 1991 and has been a Sundance dealer for three years.

Leadership Spokane, an affiliate of the Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce, has received a $5,000 grant from Foundation Northwest. The grant is specifically dedicated for participant scholarships in the regular and community programs. Leadership Spokane prepares and encourages community members, youth and adult, to assume trustee leader roles for the purpose of building effective communities throughout the greater Spokane area.

Klundt Hosmer Design has received awards from several national advertising and design publications and competitions. A logo design for Tony Maroni’s Famous Gourmet Pizza in Bellevue was selected for inclusion in the Print Magazine Regional Design Annual. Also, two letterhead packages prepared by the firm were included in the book American Corporate Identity 98 from the Bayou Brewing Co. and Huckleberry’s Fresh Markets. The Spokane Transit Authority newsletter ‘Transit Lines’ was awarded a print media award at the American Public Transportation Awards competition.

Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International has presented a Gold Award to Wendt Advertising and Travel Montana for a series of magazine ads using the “Put Yourself in Montana” theme. They also received a Silver Award in the “Complete Campaign” category.
