Churches Kick Off Fall Bazaar Season
The holiday bazaar season kicks into high gear this week with events at several South Side churches. If you want to get some of that Christmas shopping done early, visit some of the events listed below.
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church will have its annual fall bazaar and bake sale Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature baked goods, books, toys, Christmas ornaments and decorations, crafts, gift baskets and a coffee bar.
The church is located at 24th and Grand.
Westminster Congregational United Church of Christ, 411 S. Washington, will have its bazaar Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be baked goods, crafts, quilts, Christmas decorations and ornaments, holiday gift items and a fish pond for children. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for $4.50, or $2 for children.
Central Lutheran Church, 309 W. Fifth, will have its annual Scandinavian Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Items for sale include crafts, fresh bread, cookies and holiday gifts.
A “Kaffee Stua” (Norwegian coffee hour) will run from 9 to 11 a.m. Women in traditional dress will serve homemade Scandinavian desserts for under $2. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost will be between $2 and $4 depending on the items selected.
Central United Methodist Church, 518 W. Third, will host its holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature quilts, baked goods, cookbooks, china, Christmas items and a fish pond for children.
Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $4 for adults or $2.50 for kids under 12.
Centenary United Methodist Church, 1012 S. Freya, will host a Slavic Russian dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The cost is $5. There will also be a craft and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Liberty Park United Methodist Church, 1526 E. 11th, will host a Christmas bazaar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Lunch will be served beginning at 11 a.m. for $3.50 and $2.25.
Cheney United Methodist Church, 204 Fourth, will have its annual holiday fair Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature crafts, baked goods and a children’s fair. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Prices will vary depending on items selected.
The Cheney Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 639 Elm, will have its holiday bazaar Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The bazaar will include a raffle, silent auction, games, crafts and baked goods. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $3.
Series on family and faith
First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar, will begin a series of classes on Family and Faith beginning Sunday. The class will include discussion on how to share your faith with your children. The class will start at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday through November.
