Echo Bay Mines Trims Its Losses
Lower production costs helped contain third-quarter losses at Echo Bay Mines, officials reported.
The Denver-based company, which operates the Kettle River Mine near Republic, Wash., reported losses of $6 million, or 6 cents per share. That compares with losses of $14.6 million during the same period last year.
Gold production at Kettle River dropped to 29,360 ounces during the third quarter, a 12 percent decrease, as a result of lower-grade ores, officials said.
