CBS anchorman Dan Rather and Middle Eastern correspondent Bob Simon have been chosen by the network as the first two correspondents on its junior edition of “60 Minutes,” expected to join the CBS schedule this winter on either Tuesday or Wednesday night. Rather, 67, will add the job to his other duties as anchor of the “CBS Evening News” and anchor of “48 Hours,” the network’s other newsmagazine show. Simon, 57, who has been based in Israel since 1987, will continue to work in Tel Aviv. Captured during the Persian Gulf War, he spent 40 days in Iraqi prisons and later wrote a book about his experiences.
