Dollar Up Against Yen

The dollar rose to a one-month high against the Japanese yen Tuesday for the second straight day on lingering questions about Japan’s economic recovery and doubts about whether U.S. interest rates will be cut again soon.

The dollar was slightly lower against the German mark in quiet trading amid a lack of market-moving news.

It was the dollar’s highest level against the yen since Oct. 7, the day before the U.S. currency suffered its worst drop in 25 years on hopes for a revival of Japan’s sagging economy.
