CV District Oks Projects

The Central Valley School District plans to tackle several small and medium projects at different schools within the next year.

Last month the Central Valley School Board approved spending $550,000 for about a dozen other projects around the district.

The district will spend some of the $3 million received from the state as its share of the cost of renovating Bowdish Junior High.

Greenacres Junior High will get new windows within the next year, replacing the heat-leaking, singlepane glass that’s been in place, in some cases, for about 30 years. The project is expected to cost $110,000.

The list of projects also includes $50,000 to replace wornout classroom student desks and chairs in buildings around the school district.

An underground sprinkler system, expected to cost $85,000, will be installed at McDonald Elementary.

The district has budgeted $165,000 for improved intercoms and internal communications at Keystone, McDonald, Opportunity elementary schools and the Barker Cente.

The district expects to spend $20,000 to install cut-off systems for natural gas and electricity in the shops at North Pines Junior High and University High.

New hoods for the science lab at Evergreen Junior High will cost an estimated $30,000.

An extra bus loading lane at Sunrise Elementary and security cameras in the U-Hi parking lots are expected to cost $20,000.
