Fire Burns For Time Without Notice Because No Smoke Alarms In Home

Four people narrowly escaped injury Wednesday when fire damaged a home in north Spokane.

Firefighters were called to a house at 908 E. Liberty about 1 p.m. that was engulfed in flames.

There were no smoke detectors in the home, which allowed the fire to burn for some time before being detected by people in the home, officials said. The residents were uninjured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
