Two Dogs Die From Poisoning
Police are investigating reports of two dogs being poisoned in the same block in northwest Spokane.
The most recent report was taken on Nov. 2 in the 3000 block of West Fairview.
The owner of a black lab said he found the dog extremely ill and took it to the Pet Emergency Clinic the night before, police spokesman Dick Cottam said.
The dog was diagnosed as having kidney failure due to swallowing anti-freeze. The dog had been outside the house in a locked kennel area. The dog was euthanized, he said.
In late August, another pet owner on the same block reported that one of her two dogs had been poisoned. The pet clinic said that dog also swallowed anti-freeze.
“A neighbor reportedly had threatened to kill her dogs,” Cottam said.
But he said there wasn’t any evidence against the neighbor in that case.
“There haven’t been any arrests and we’re asking neighbors for help,” he said.
