Community Colleges Increasing Security
Officials are doubling security at Spokane Community College and Spokane Falls Community College in response to recent incidents of violence.
Chancellor Ron Bell of the Community Colleges of Spokane District 17 on Thursday ordered an expanded safety program that will post two uniformed guards on each campus during hours of darkness, double the current coverage.
Bell has set aside $100,000 to beef up patrols and to fund a study of district security, according to a statement.
On Oct. 2, an 18-year-old student reported she was raped in the middle of the day near the SCC automotive center.
